How does a loved, “have to have it” product today— become trash the next and does it have to? Join this workshop to learn how a business can avoid generating waste that will gather in landfills and in our environment. What about the waste that is already out there? Can that become a profitable business opportunity?
Through exploring where and why we are generating waste, we find business opportunities and individual actions we take everyday to do our part. Every action contributes one way or the other.
But, before we get to action and not all actions are equal, we will start with a concise and very useful overview on circular economy to give you the necessary tools.

Introsuction to Bioplastics and Bio-based Binders Workshop at Fab Lab Barcelona on the 25th of April

In this active learning experience, participants will learn how to create bioplastics and
biocomposites from food waste. During this workshop, they will explore the different types of
bioplastics and bio-based binders, as well as their potential applications in packaging,
decoration, interior design and architecture. We will combine food waste with bio-based
binders to create unique and sustainable materialities.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to transform algae-based bioplastic sheets
into small pouches, ideal for storing food or other items.
Each participant will make 1 small bioplastic material during the workshop and assemble
previously prepared bioplastic sheets into a small bag or pouch. This activity will not only
encourage creativity and reuse of materials, but also promote a deeper awareness of the
potential of bioplastics in a more sustainable world.
